Connecticut K-9 Graduate

In 2007 I completed my courses at the Connecticut K-9 located in New Britain, Connecticut. I have come to learn so much about dog health, behavior and structure. It has been my dream to have my own business working with other dogs since my beloved Cody passed away.

About Cody

Cody was adopted at the age of 3 from WAG. He was very smart and intelligent and friendly. Because of him, I started getting involved with theropy. He stood by my side all the time. Used to go to work with me.

Cody showed that he too can save a life. There was a pail with some rocks on it, which we came across during one of our walks. Cody sniffed it and knocked the rocks off. Inside was a kitten. Because the kitten was so young, it actually believed the Cody was its mother. Greyhounds have a history of going after small animals but nope, not Cody. He curled up with the kitten as if it was his own.

Rescueing and giving second chances

Cody was a rescue dog. He was a previous racing dog. After these dogs have been used for their purpose they are then disposed of. Luckly some made it into rescues which is where I found Cody. Sadly, even though Cody was rescued, his past came back to haunt him. One day I tookd him into the vet for a blockage in his stomach. To our surprise, Cody was full of cancer and we had him PTS while he was still on the operating table. I said my good-byes to him as he laid so peacefully there on the table. I feel as though his racing history did this to him, but it cannot be proved. From his passing away, I decided to go to school and learn how to care for dogs.
